Spring 2017 Conversation Club Meetings

The first English Conversation Club meeting of the spring 2017 semester was held on Wednesday, February 15 2017 from 4:00 to 5:00 pm in RC106C. The topic was on diversity in the United States and how Trump's actions, most notably the "Muslim Ban," may have affected it. More than 15 people attended the meeting, which is more than we have ever had! The next meeting will be held this evening, Wednesday, March 1 2017 from 4:00 to 5:30 pm in RC106C. We hope that you can make it!

Fall 2016 Student Employee Workshop

This semester's workshop was a wonderful reminder of how lucky we are to have such great student workers at the Writing, Reading, and Language (WRL) Center! We had a fun time learning about our new and our returning student workers. We also learned a little about MyEnglishLab and Pronunciation Power 2. Stay tuned for the next workshop in spring 2017!

Spring 2016 Student Employee Professional Development

Thank you to everyone who attended the Spring 2016 Student Employee Professional Development Workshop! It was a great way to learn about each other, the Center, and future academic and professional opportunities. Thank you to everyone who participated in the workshop!

WINTER HOLIDAY PARTY

Thank you to all the students who came and spread cheer at the Winter Holiday Party! Enjoy your winter break, and we'll see you next year :)

KUDOS! THANK YOU!

The staff would like to give a special thank you to all of the student employees who helped students with the switch to the Office 365 email system; we couldn't have done it without you! Also, thank you, Ruth, for analyzing the results of the evaluation forms from the 27 student attendees of last week's Sources and Citations workshop.

MULTICULTURAL FESTIVAL

Monday, November 16th, 2015

12:00-2:00 P.M.

ST Atrium

Country exhibits, performances & more.  Come participate!

When You Need a Snack

It is not permitted to have food or drinks (except water in a covered water bottle) at the front desk or in the lab.  However, that does not mean you need to go hungry!

You can eat in the break room/kitchen area during your half-hour lunch or your 15-minute break.  Outside of these times, if it is not too busy, it is okay to take 2-3 minutes to run to the break room to have a quick refreshment if you are hungry.  The break room is also where you should go if you want to have a cup of coffee, tea, or cocoa.  But remember— a 2 or 3 minute unscheduled break is okay.  10-15 minutes is not.

To keep from getting too hungry between your longer breaks, pack something nutritious that can be eaten quickly (like a pack of peanuts or a small piece of cheese).  It will only take you a minute away from your station to eat these things, and you will come back feeling refreshed.
